Raja Muda Needs Perlis Development Plans Reviewed To Avoid Flood

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, the Raja Muda of Perlis wants all post-flood actions, as well as a review on the state's development plan, to be ready by taking into account the need to avoid such a disaster.

He said although the disaster was inevitable, initial efforts to minimize the death toll and property loss could be done.

"This matter should be taken seriously by all quarters," he said at the presentation ceremony of flood relief goods worth RM100,000 by the Tuanku Syed Putra Foundation to the Social Welfare Department at Arau Royal Gallery on Saturday.

At the same time, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said that the people in the state need to realize their roles in flood prevention, together with by ensuring that all rivers in Perlis were free of litter and filth.

A total of 15,159 people were evacuated during the flood that hit the state early last month (November 2010), which was also deemed the worst flood in Perlis' history.
